Lumi

Lumi is a rooftop restaurant in the Lumiares Hotel. The interior of the restaurant is minimalistic with neutral colors, marble and wood. Their menu consists of shared dining (or lunch) items, which were good. We specifically loved the view from the outdoor seating area. From there, you have a beautiful view over the orange roofs in Lisbon’s historic city center and the Tagus River. You just can’t beat a rooftop restaurant with yummy food and a great view, if you ask us! We’d recommend reserving a table in advance if you want to have dinner here as tables fill up quickly. You can make a reservation online through their website.

M’arracreo

This pizzeria is actually located right next to the Lumiares Hotel and Lumi Rooftop in the Bairro Alto neighborhood. The authentic Neapolitan pizzas here are truly delicious and the best we had in Portugal. Pizzerias outside of Italy are often a hit or a miss, but this definitely was a hit. The interior of the restaurant isn’t anything special, but that doesn’t matter when the food is this good. We can highly recommend M’arracreo if you’re craving pizza during your stay in Lisbon. We didn’t make a reservation and were able to get a table for two during dinner peak hour. If you don’t want to tempt fate, you can make a reservation on their website.

Sumaya

Sumaya is a Lebanese restaurant located in the Bairro Alto neighborhood. The restaurant’s decor is simple yet stylish, with neutral colors, marble tables and wooden furnishings. They also have a small but cozy outdoor seating area which looked very inviting, but unfortunately for us it was a bit too cold. They serve Lebanese mezze, which are small dishes that are great for sharing. If you love Lebanese and Mediterranean food, you will love Sumaya. We didn’t make a reservation in advance so we showed up early (around 18:30) and luckily they could seat us. If you don’t want to take any risks, you can make a reservation through their website.

Palácio Chiado

Palácio Chiado is a stunning restaurant located in a beautifully restored palace called Palácio Quintela in the heart of the historic Chiado neighborhood. The menu at Palácio Chiado is focused on traditional Portuguese cuisine with a modern twist. Even though the restaurant is pricey, especially for Portuguese standards, the food was really good. It was the best restaurant we ate at in Lisbon.

Besides the amazing food, eating in Palácio Chiado truly is an experience. The restaurant’s elegant and grand interior with high ceilings, marble columns, and ornate chandeliers is really beautiful. Don’t forget to take some photos of this beautiful place, it’s definitely an Instagrammable place. Especially the hall with the stairway and the room with the lion hanging from the ceiling are stunning. While waiting for our food, we were taking photos of the building, haha.

We’d highly recommend reserving a table at least a week in advance, whether you’re coming for lunch or for dinner. It’s a popular restaurant and tables fill up quickly. You can make a reservation on their website. However, we didn’t make a reservation in time, but we were still able to get a table. We showed up about 15 minutes before the restaurant opened for lunch and lined up (yup, we weren’t the only ones in line). Luckily for us, they managed to get us a table. We’re not sure if this would also work for dinner, as dinner is a more popular time at Palácio Chiado.

Café Janis

If you’re looking for a breakfast or brunch place, we can highly recommend Café Janis. It was our favorite brunch spot in Lisbon with very nice staff. If you’re going here for breakfast or brunch, we can highly recommend the açai bowl. It was recommended to us from one of the staff members and it was one of the best açai bowls we ever had. The interior is very interesting with colorful artwork and plants scattered throughout the space and hanging from the ceiling. If the weather allows it, opt for a table outside. The outdoor seating area is located across the street from a lively square, making it a great spot for people-watching. Besides Café Janis being a great spot for breakfast or brunch, you can also have dinner there and it’s even open as a bar until midnight. It’s not possible to make a reservation.

Stanislav Café

Last, but definitely not least, on our list of amazing places to eat in Lisbon is Stanislav Café. Stanislav Café is a brunch spot serving typical brunch dishes such as avocado toast, loaded croissants and shakshuka. Besides that, they offer a variety of homemade pastries. The cafe’s decor is simple yet stylish, with vintage-inspired furnishings and decor. We enjoyed a late lunch with a loaded croissant and a shakshuka and it was delicious. It was also the moment I found out that avocado and piri-piri hot sauce is a perfect combination, haha. It’s not possible to make a reservation at Stanislav Café.
