Alcantara Bridge
If you’re visiting Toledo by train, the first Instagrammable spot you’ll stumble upon is the Alcantara Bridge. The Alcantara Bridge is a Roman arch bridge and it’s a beautiful sight to see. We loved taking photos here. Along the road, there are many ledges where you can sit on (always be careful though!) so you can easily include yourself in the photos you’re taking. You can also take the stairs down reaching the Tagus River bank. There are plenty of rocks to sit on. The earlier you are, the stiller the water is to get a beautiful reflection shot of the river. The Alcantara Bridge is one of our favorite Instagram-worthy spots in Toledo and you can’t miss taking your photo here!
Viewpoint at Cuesta los Cantos Doce
You can find a beautiful viewpoint after crossing the bridge and taking a left turn onto the Cuesta los Cantos Doce. If you’re being careful, you can sit on the ledge here and take a photo of you, the Alcantara Bridge and the countryside in the background. We think this is a beautiful Instagram-worthy spot in Toledo.
Mirador del Azor
If you walk a bit further along Cuesta los Cantos Doce, you’ll find stairs on the right leading into a park. From the park you have a beautiful view of the Infantry Academy and the surrounding countryside. We loved taking a photo here with the beautiful flowers that grow around the railing. It’s a lovely and colorful instagrammable place.
Alcázar de Toledo
Alcázar de Toledo is the city’s fort and offers multiple Instagrammable spots inside the fort. The fort is built as a Roman palace in the 3rd century. Nowadays, the fort is used as the Army Museum. There’s a courtyard in the middle of the Alcázar, which is a lovely Instagram-worthy spot. Be sure to check out the balconies of the courtyard too. We loved the contrast of the black and white tiles here.
The rooftop of the Alcázar offers an amazing view of the city’s orange rooftops. There is plenty of space to sit on the ledge of the rooftop so you can include yourself in the photo. We really love it that you’re so close to the all the other rooftops, this makes the photo very immersive.
To enter the Alcázar, you have to buy an entrance ticket to the Army Museum, which is €5. The museum is opened daily from 10.00-17.00. Every Sunday, admission to the museum is free.
Mirador del Valle
We saved the best Instagrammable place for last. Mirador del Valle is a stunning viewpoint outside of the historical city. Getting to this viewpoint will take around 30 minutes by foot, but you can also take the bus. We would recommend walking there, as the views along the way are already beautiful.
Mirador del Valle offers an unobstructed view of the historical city of Toledo. We’d suggest to walk around the viewpoint and the area to look for the perfect spot to take a photo. There are ledges everywhere, but if you want to sit on them, be very careful. At some points, the cliff is very steep. We didn’t sit on the ledges at those parts, safety is way more important than getting ‘that’ shot.
It can get crowded at the viewpoint as a bus full of tourists arrives. However, luckily they all disappear again after they have their photo. If you walk a bit further, you’ll notice it gets less crowded too. If you don’t want anyone to be in your shot, you just have to be a little bit patient.
We can assure you that you don’t want to miss this Instagrammable place in Toledo!
Sunset at Alcantara Bridge
If you visited Toledo by train and making your way back to the train at the end of the day, don’t forget to make another stop at the Alcantara Bridge. The Alcantara Bridge is the perfect photography spot as the sun sets behind the city. Taking a photo of the Alcantara Bridge or the historical buildings against a beautiful colored sky is a must! Watching the sunset from this Instagram-worthy spot made our day trip to Toledo complete.
