Even though we were mostly on the road while in Nusa Penida, we still found some nice places to eat on the island.
The Krusty Krab was our favorite restaurant by far. We went there almost every day at least once. The food is good, the staff is very nice and, especially in the evening, the atmosphere is amazing! In the evening, playing cards are handed out to all tables. We really liked this idea and it made us stay for a few more drinks. In the evening, the staff plays live music, which makes for a really nice atmosphere.
Of course, they serve hamburgers (because Krusty Krab!), pizzas (who has seen Spongebob Squarepant’s Krusty Krab Pizza episode?) and Indonesian dishes. We were lucky the restaurant was close to our hotel, but despite that, it’s absolutely worth going when you’re on the island.
Arsa Santhi Penida
We were staying at the Arsa Santhi Penida and their restaurant served pretty good food and delicious smoothies. When we came back from our early morning adventures (read about them here), we often had lunch at our hotel. The service is a bit slow, but that’s fine.
Warungs at Broken Beach
During our visit at Broken Beach, we had some food at one of the huts surrounding the place. We both had Bami Goreng and it was actually pretty good. So, if you get hungry during your visit to Angel Billabong and Broken Beach, you can safely have a good, simple Indonesian dish at one of the Warungs.
Warung Makan Boga Segara
After we couldn’t find the exact location to get down to Atuh Beach (read about that adventure here), we went looking for food since we were starving. We drove north along the eastern shore of Nusa Penida and came across a restaurant with cute huts right at the cliff. We chose one of the huts and ordered some drinks and food. The food was not very good, but the view was incredible so that made it better. Apparently, Warung Makan Boga Segara is specialized in grilled fish, but we didn’t order that. We wouldn’t recommend this place for the food, but it’s a perfect spot for drinks and to enjoy the stunning view.
Warungs at Crystal Bay
There are a few different huts at Crystal Bay where you can buy drinks, fresh smoothies and snacks. There are also a few places where you can enjoy a small meal, but we didn’t try the food at Crystal Bay. However, we can absolutely recommend getting a fresh smoothie at the fresh smoothie hut. They are served in very cute jars and they’re delicious!
In general, there are lots of small restaurants (warungs) around the island where you can grab a bite, especially along the main road. At all touristic spots there are locals selling drinks and snacks, no matter how difficult the place is to reach. There was even someone selling drinks down at Kelingking Beach (read more about Kelingking Beach here). You definitely won’t starve on the island.
